Welcome to the official website site of KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA NO. 1 TEZPUR, one of the prestigious educational institutions of Sonitpur (Assam). This centre of excellence which was first established in July 1971 as a defence sector school affiliated to CBSE. It is situated 12 Km North of Tezpur town in Army sector. This Vidyalaya has the strength of more than 1400+ students & 60 staff on rolls and has all along been striving to achieve academic excellence and development in the total personally of the students. It is a three section school with all the three streams Science, Commerce & Humanities (one section each). It has moulded many Teachers, Scientists, Technocrats, Doctors, Engineers & Administrators who occupy enviable positions in various walks of life.

Mission of the Vidyalaya

The Kendriya Vidyalayas have a four - fold mission, viz.,

1.To cater to the educational needs of children of transferable Central Government including Defence and Para-military personnel by providing a common programme of education ;

2.To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education;

3.To initiate and promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) etc. and

4.To develop the spirit of national integration and create a sense of "Indianness" among children.
